Common Name: Marine Betta
Scientific Name: Calloplesiops altevelis
The Marine Betta, also known as the Comet, is a great choice for an experienced aquarium owner. The Marine Betta is carnivorous, but it doesn’t grow large enough in size to threaten most of the most common aquarium inhabitants, caution with smaller fish, invertebrates and fry is still advised. They require a substantial amount of care and can, at first, be difficult to feed as they are slow eaters that take mainly live foods or thawed saltwater frozen foods. They are best kept in home aquariums with plenty of live rock caves and crevices to hide and hunt.
