Common Name: Smooth Kelp
Scientific Name: Haliptilon Sp.
Smooth Kelp is a very popular species of red algae for use in the aquarium reaching a maximum height of 20 cm. It grows in a fern or feather shaped blades and can be red or pinkish in coloration. It typically is found as a colony or multiple colonies attached to smaller pieces of imported live rock. Somewhat palatable to fish, but are mostly left alone in favor of more suitable algae.
